This manual is intended as a guide for those wishing to adapt the Mazda 13B or 20B rotary engine for aircraft use. If you are seriously considering this, I will assume that you have or are willing to acquire a basic knowledge of internal combustion engines and a working knowledge of common aircraft construction techniques such as riveting and gas or TIG welding. The emphasis of this conversion is on a practical alternative to Lycoming engines in the range of 150-200 HP. In order to make it as practical as possible for builders to duplicate my efforts at the lowest possible cost, this conversion was developed without the requirement for any machine shop services. It covers most everything I have learned about the Mazda rotary in aircraft use during development and approximately 600 hours of in-flight operation. There will be some discussion of the specifics about the RV-4 installation on which I developed this conversion but in general, most of the information will be applicable to any aircraft.
